Position:          Environmental Scientist

GBMc & Associates is an Arkansas based environmental and engineering consulting firm providing strategic environmental services to industrial and municipal clients within Arkansas and in numerous other states.

Primary Purpose of Position

To perform technical duties within the fields of environmental sciences, aquatic biology, water quality, natural resource management for all areas of work assigned.  Position requires technical competence in the areas of environmental science and math, the ability to exercise professional judgment, good written and verbal communication skills, and computer skills.  This is an entry level position, but those with 1-5 years of experience will also be considered.  Minimum Education - Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or like field.

Job Responsibilities:

1.     Performs technical work in the fields of wetlands science, water quality, aquatic biology, natural resource management, and environmental sciences (under general supervision) including data collection, data analysis, and document preparation required to complete the company projects within time and budget requirement. 

2.     Performs general environmental field sampling including preparation for studies, actual field work, cleanup, and documentation of work.  Studies may include biological, physical and chemical sample collection/measurement, physical characteristics evaluation including habitat analyses and data evaluation, and simple chemical measurements, water quality sampling including clean metals techniques sampling, and data analyses including Hach kit, Winkler, fluorometer and other field kits.

3.     Performs data entry, editing, analysis, plotting, and file manipulation on personal computers (e.g., EXCEL, SYSTAT, ACCESS).

4.     Performs scientific research and literature reviews and extracts required information and data.

5.     Communicates project and company related information to senior project scientists, project managers and other in-house personnel as necessary:

        a)    Writes letters, memos, technical reports and summaries; and

        b)    Orally communicates project findings in meetings.
